I don’t think that the principle of buying and (re)selling needs a lot of introduction. But maybe that is exactly what makes it look deceivingly simple.

A lot of people agree with me that buying and selling is craftsmanship. Experience and knowledge will make some excel, and others fail (or keep them from reaching the next level).

Full Disclosure

Now, full disclosure, I’m not good at this game, but I never really invested my time (or money) in it. It is on my ToTry list, but for now, I am interested and invested in other topics, like blogging for instance.

With me, the pattern is always the same: I play around with something I want to learn or want to master. Next, I take some free courses or I try to find tutorials on YouTube. Finally, while playing with what I have learned, I decide what areas I need to invest my money in so I can become more proficient.

If I imagine myself wanting to learn more about buying, (re)selling, dropshipping etcetera, then these would be the courses I would start with.

A Little Advice Ahead

Although not from experience in this area, these rules of thumb will apply to a lot of things, as for this also:

  1. Do not invest or use the money you cannot afford to lose.
You know yourself best. If you are someone that gets tempted by the enthusiasm or sales pitch from others, then protect yourself before you dive in. Set a budget (even if the budget is 0) and stick to it.
  2. If it looks too good to be true, you know it probably is.
Found someone that offers 5 brand new Xbox consoles for the price of one? It is probably a scam. Trust your instinct. Learn to recognize as many red flags as possible.
  3. Be honest. It will gain less now, but last longer.
I know that it sounds cheesy, but even if you forget the ethical part: You are building a business. shady and skimmy deals will hunt your business for a long time. Build a trustworthy brand (it might even hold some value if you decide to sell it).

Wrapping It Up

I think free courses are a great way to start learning about buying and selling.
Even if they only scratch the surface and maybe lack the in-depth secrets, you will get a good idea about the possibilities and it will help you to set your first steps.

And yes, I know that free things aren’t really free and that free courses are often the start of a sales funnel designed to make you spend some money, but they also give you the opportunity to value the person or company that provides these courses.

Think of it as the trial-period of an application or service. If you have seen that it is worth it while taking the free course and you can afford it, then why not?

What Do You Think?

Did you try these courses? And did you like them? Do you think that they are valuable or are a waste of your time?
